transfuture

submission guidelines

Submissions are open!

transfuture is looking for pieces that focus on transgender joy, euphoria, and/or celebration. This can be shown through past, present, and future; reality or fiction; photos, words, both, or anything within that other category. Submissions close December 31st.

General:

  • There will be no submission fee.
  • I cannot pay contributors at this time.
  • Submitting your work means you automatically agree to have your work published on the website.
  • Submissions can be literary, visual, multi-modal, textural/sensory, etc. but must be able to be displayed properly on the website.
  • All words/pieces submitted will be submitter’s own. A submission should not be AI-sourced (the AI isn’t trans—you are). Collaboration with other humans is encouraged and more than welcome.
  • If a submission has quotes/visuals from other published works, source them alongside the submission.
  • All sources should have the creator’s name and the title of the piece being sourced from. If there are multiple creators, source all. If the creator is not listed (such as an informational website with no name attached), please provide a place to read/view the source.
  • While words with hateful history—such as slurs—might be important to the piece, be mindful of why you are using such slurs and not simply mimicking hate in your work. If a piece has slurs, please warn for specific usage.
  • Bigotry—misogyny, racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, etc.—will not be tolerated nor published.
  • Multiple submissions are allowed.
  • The publication of a submission on the website is under the discretion of the curator of this project, Crab Saylor Hochsprung-Cottrell. The curator holds the right to reject any submission and/or take down any submission even after site publication.

Format:

Accepted file formats: .pdf, .docx, .png, .jpeg, .gif, .mp4, .mp3, .mov

  • Please keep literary submissions under 5,000 words and format them double-spaced.
  • In visual submissions: do not use oppressive and/or hateful symbols.
